First of all, this Whetstone Sharpener Set came in a nice storage box with magnetic lid closures. Pretty cool. The manufacturer' packaging of this Set is impressive too. Each piece to this Set is arraigned nicely and well protected. The 400/1000 3000/8000 Grit Water Stones are of a high quality and are perfectly flat. In fact, each piece to this Set is of high quality. I was pleasantly surprised by all of this because the price is so low. It' nice to have purchased a professional grade product
As other reviews stated, this honing guide is a work of art. Very well made.As to the fiddlyness of it, two things. I think it is easy enough to square a chisel in the guide by eye, but you can check squareness with a small square (picture #1). Remember, hand honers also square their chisels by eye.Secondly, based on previous reviews, I soldered a nut to a fender washer to increase the area of contact between the blade and the set screw (picture #2). Seems to work well. You do really have to cra
I love what I call camp gadgets: well-designed, small/collapsible/space-saving, lightweight gear for camping and other outdoorsy activities. And this is just a perfect camp gadget: an attractive, ultra-lightweight, folding, miniature handsaw for SMALL campfire tasks. Fabulous design. Wonderful aesthetic. Love the wood handles (all else equal, I much prefer natural materials to synthetics).NOTE: The metal is very thin and very flexible so THIS ISN'T THE SAW TO TACKLE LARGE BRANCHES WITH, NOR TO
The KERYE Mini Hand Saw is a game-changer for woodworking enthusiasts like me! Its 6-inch Japanese pull saw with double edges has completely revolutionized my woodworking projects. The build quality is exceptional. The lightweight construction feels great in my hand, providing excellent control. The ergonomic handle ensures a comfortable grip, even during extended use.The double-edged blade is sharp and precise, effortlessly cutting through wood. It handles different types of wood with ease, maki

Feels very good in my hand. Good response and flawless cuts. I did change my handle wrap from plastic cord to a leather cord. I was fine with plastic, but the tool looks so good a leather handle just makes it easy to use.
This is a nice set, but according to my husband, a little complicated to learn. He was able to sharpen several knives, but it took him a long time. Still, definitely worth the money and a great set.

I read a couple reviews complaining of the time required to sharpen a knife. If you want speed, use a bench grinder; and one of the many electric knife sharpeners is going to be faster. But speed and ease will never produce quality. This whet stone produces razor sharp knives any cook would cherish. And with the included angle guide, it is a sure no brainer; anyone can sharpen a blade to be proud of! Slow and steady wins the race.
I was surprised at how fast it arrived and I got to soaking it for 10 minutes as instructed...then went ahead and started sharpening all my kitchen knives. Man it did wonders for my cleaver. That thing was dull dull dull. Did amazing on all the stuff I got sharpened! Was definitely a great purchase
Worked perfectly for honing my high carbon steel straight razor. After liberally applying water to the stone and making a few passes, it' very clear how much metal is being left behind. The 5,000 grit side works very quickly but is clean and smooth with well-beveled edges. 25 to 30 passes on the 10,000 grit side polishes up the blade nicely. Nice and heavy, which is good when you don't want the stone to move. Plus, it has a good rubber base that is non-slip.
If youre willing to put the time and effort into sharpening your knives that a kit like this calls for, it seems to be a great setup at a reasonable price. Id recommend getting some angle guides so you can maintain the proper bevel of your blades.
What do I know about sharpening knives Not much. Nothing I had used had ever worked. But I accidentally stumbled on a youtube video showing a whetstone, and I thought it looked like something I could handle. There were a number of similar products but this had just what I was looking for - 2 grits, a base and an angle guide, and the price was right. As soon as I got it, I tried it with several knives, and they are noticeably sharper. The instructions could be better, but that is not a big deal, si
The kit is well equipped and the stones appear to be decent quality. they did a good job sharpening some plane irons.I like to have a sharp knife. Pocket knives, steak knives, chef'/cooking knives. The blades clamp on well to the angle roller, and its relatively easy to estimate the proper angle of the blade for sharpening
great product, delivered fast and very easy to use

I recently got a job at a State Park. One of the first things they asked me to do was to cut down some vines. I was appalled when I went to the tool shed and saw how dull all of the tools were. A workman is only as good as his, (or her) tools. I asked how I could sharpen them and was directed to a bench grinder. For garden snips Since I dont want to GIVE the state my money but wanted sharp tools I was looking for some inexpensive sharpener. This stone is GREAT. Whenever I find I have some free
I was very surprised at at the quality and how good everything was packaged even though some of the reviews were not good but I am very happy with them. I've never used a wheatstone before so I watched some Youtube videos and gave it a try. It takes some time and patience but the outcome was amazing. The knife guide was enough to get me started and I used it by sliding it over the knife blade to get the proper angle. Beware because there is some vertical move in the guide so make sure that you h

I own a highly (America' Test Kitchen) recommend electric knife sharpener, but one day I saw a YouTube video on wet stone knife sharpening. For the relatively inexpensive price, I decided to try one. My advice is that if you are meticulous enough to spend 10-20 minutes, maybe up to half an hour to get a knife sharp enough that you could shave your face with, you want one of these. I don't know what else to say encouraging other than I have a peeler for julienned carrots for salad that I also lo
Okay, I didn't get an instruction manual. However, I like my meat knives very sharp. Hessler Worldwide kinda spoiled me. I had tried to sharpen them after ages on a cheap magnetic sharpener and it started dinging every blade I put in it, including my hairdressing scissors. I am very happy to have this stone. My grandfather sharpened his pocketknives away the whole time I was growing up. He taught me how to use a whetstone. I looked up how to use a water stone. I soaked in water for 10 mins and t

If you find sharpening with a fast-cutting, 1200-grit diamond plate is enough for most of your needs, but occasionally want/need to put a super fine edge on that chisel, plane blade, or knife, this 3000/8000 grit two-sided waterstone will do the trick. Everything about this is as promised in the description. Wood base is almost so nice you don't want to use it. Recommend. Really happy with this purchase.
Very nice item and received it very quickly

I have always relied on manual sharpeners and wanted to see if using a stone would do a better job. This is a reasonably priced basic set, good for people who want to try it out. It comes with a useful instruction booklet with a link to an internet video. The kit has everthing needed for basic use. My first try was fairly successful and my knife was much sharper than when using the sharpener. This method does require some time and practice, but the result is worth it.
This is a pretty good set with the gloves protecting you from most sharp objects tho not good against very sharp knives after all the cut resistance level is Lvl 5 and the other thing left to desire is knowing what grit the green stone is.
